At Bon Parfumeur, a fragrance as intoxicating as Frapin’s Speakeasy might just transport you to the same places. Groovy Amber 302, with its jazzy notes, spices, incense, vanilla, iris and amber, invites you to prolong the night before it even begins. At the top, notes of pink peppercorn burst forth, zesty and radiant, rising to the head, accompanied by cardamom and geranium that lend a ‘green’ touch reminiscent of certain white spirits. At the heart, the story deepens. Iris and incense bring the night to the tables and minds. A vanilla pod brushes against the wood of the bar. A rich, oily wood, like sandalwood, offers itself like a comfortable armchair in the base, with musk and an addictive amber.

The founder of Bon Parfumeur, Ludovic Bonneton, readily admits that you can’t work with him if you don’t have a sweet tooth. In the brand’s offices, there’s always something sweet to share. “I want the same in my perfumes. They have to have a touch of sweetness, even if sweetness isn’t the main focus.”

For this fragrance, which marks the launch of the house’s Signature collection, he chose perfumer Sidonie Lancesseur. The top notes? Sleepless night, jazz, and saxophone. A memory of an evening, of dancing, of steps that flow together without truly belonging to the wearer, while Groovy Amber engages the nose in a most interesting experience that transcends the fragrance itself.

His inspiration? “Discovering the Duc des Lombards in Paris and a jazz club in London in the same year,” Ludovic Bonneton immediately replies. “It was an incredible year during which I discovered the magic of live jazz in clubs, and I wanted to translate that into a fragrance by asking Sidonie to draw inspiration from jazz that makes you dance. Not the jazz you listen to quietly, but the kind that invites an entire room to dance together.” Iridescent notes, peppery eighth notes on an amber melody.

With the launch of its Signature collection, Bon Parfumeur uses color as a language that awakens the senses before the fragrance is even smelled. Groovy Amber, the first creation featured in this new collection, introduces red through its packaging. It sparks a conversation with the imagination even before the top notes of the perfume are discovered. Between the transparency of the lacquered red bottle, the texture of the label, the font, and the contrast between red and black, the imagination engages the senses before the bottle is opened. The nose is already drawn in without having smelled a single scent. This Signature collection, led by Groovy Amber, is a hit… in every sense. We’re already dancing.

Du côté de Bon Parfumeur, un parfum aussi enivrant que Speakeasy de Frapin vous emmènera peut-être dans les mêmes lieux. Groovy Amber 302,  sur un air de jazz, Épices, encens, vanille, iris et ambre invite à faire durer la nuit avant même qu’elle ne commence. En tête, des notes de baie rose fusent, piquantes. Elles irradient, montent à la tête, accompagnées de cardamome et de géranium apportant un côté “vert” rappelant certains alcools blancs. En cœur, l’histoire se corse. Iris et encens font tomber la nuit sur les tables et les esprits. Une gousse de vanille vient se frotter sur le bois du comptoir. Un bois bien gras comme celui du santal qui s’offre comme un fauteuil confortable en fond avec des muscs et  un ambre addictif.

Le fondateur de Bon Parfumeur, Ludovic Bonneton, dit volontiers qu’on ne peut travailler avec lui si on n’est pas gourmand. Dans les bureaux de la marque, il y a toujours une gourmandise à partager. “Dans mes parfums, je veux que ce soit la même chose. Ils doivent avoir une touche de gourmandise même si la gourmandise n’est pas le propos principal.”

Pour cet opus qui signe le lancement de la collection Signature de la maison, il a choisi la parfumeuse Sidonie Lancesseur. En tête ? Nuit blanche, jazz et saxophone. Un souvenir de soirée, de danse, de pas qui s’enchaînent sans vraiment lui appartenir tandis que Groovy Amber engage le nez dans une expérience des plus intéressantes au-delà de la fragrance-même. 

Son inspiration ? “La découverte du Duc des Lombards à Paris et d’un club de Jazz à Londres la même année”, répond aussitôt Ludovic Bonneton. C’était une année incroyable durant laquelle j’ai découvert la magie du jazz en live dans les clubs et j’ai voulu traduire cela dans un parfum en demandant à Sidonie de s’inspirer d’un jazz qui fait danser. Pas le jazz qu’on écoute sagement mais celui qui invite toute une salle à danser en communion.” Effluves irisées, croches poivrées sur une mélodie ambrée.

Avec la naissance de la collection Signature, Bon Parfumeur fait de la couleur un langage qui attise les sens avant de pouvoir sentir le parfum. Ainsi, Groovy Amber, première création mise en vedette par cette nouvelle collection, introduit le rouge à travers son packaging.  Il crée une conversation avec l’imaginaire avant même la découverte des notes de tête du parfum. Entre la transparence du flacon rouge laqué, la texture de l’étiquette, la police d’écriture, le contraste entre le rouge et le noir, l’imagination convoque les sens avant le débouché. Le nez est déjà attiré sans avoir senti une seule odeur. Cette collection Signature menée par Groovy Amber fait mouche… dans tous les sens. Déjà, on danse.
